I’ve got Sunshine on a Cloudy Day…. Honey Bee Stamps and Ellen Hutson BLOG HOP!

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to the Honey Bee Stamps and Ellen Hutson SUNSHINE blog hop! You should have arrived here from the blog of the lovely, Nichol. If you are starting the hop on my blog be sure to go to the Honey Bee Stamps blog or Ellen Hutson Classroom to hop along from the beginning!

Make sure you read all the way through for details on how you could win one of two $30 gift certificates to Ellen Hutson!

I have absolutely fallen in love with the Sending Sunshine stamp and die set designed by Honey Bee Stamps for Ellen Hutson, as well as some coordinating items from Honey Bee stamps! I created quite a few cards using this new release in no time at all. Let me show you a few.

First is a fun ” You are my sunshine” this card features a shaker sun center using the Honey Bee Stamps Partly Cloudy die set and the new Sunny Day sequins mix. The small frame around the sun circle made this shaker come together quickly. (Affiliate links used where available at no cost to you, thank you for supporting this blog)

The fun thing about this card is that the sun rays actually spin!

I assembled the layers using a paper fastener (aka brad) which allows the top two layers to spin around. My daughter who loves her fidget spinner, loved playing with this card and I think it would be great for any tween or teen!

Stamps are from Sending Sunshine stamp set as well as the Ray of sunshine stamp.

Next card is a simple ink blended rainbow for an inspirational ray of sunshine!

First, I created a shaker card using foam and the a-2 sunburst cover plate die. I added my Sunny day sequins to the center and then covered with acetate. I cut the A-2 cover plate from glitter and white cardstock. For the white piece I taped off sections and used my distress inks to build a rainbow from the center of the sun. once that was done I layered that over the shaker foam layer and then pieced in the glitter rays. I stamped and embossed the sentiment from the Ray of sunshine stamp set. I did some simple die cut inlay for the “sunshine” word. both from glitter cardstock. To finish it off I added some Bokeh lights confetti with my Silver Moondust Nuvo glitter drops. I love how you can see a bit of sparkle though the confetti.

The last card I have for you is one that takes a bit of time but can be well worth the time spent. This is a pop up box card with a little handmade gift included too!

To make the box I followed THIS tutorial which was super easy! I covered the front flap with strips of colored cardstock and then trimmed away any excess. I took some Nuvo Moonstone glimmer paste and spread a thin layer over all the cardstock strips and let try. Once the glitter was dry I cut a cloud border using the Honey Bee Stamps cloud border dies and glued to the bottom of the rainbow. I cut this from white glitter cardstock and I also cut pieces to go around the outside of the box. the inside of the box has 4 layers and in between the front flap and the first layer I attached a bit of cotton to give a fluffy cloud look.

The back panel of the box card is the sunburst cover plate die cut pieces together and glued on that back piece. This gave the box extra stability too. I set the almost finished box aside and went to work on some cute planner clips for a friend who loves to decorate in her planner.

I cut felt pieces from the partly cloudy die set… the sun as well as the largest cloud in the set. I cut three pieces of each. I glued the ribbon on one layer and then once dry I sandwiched the other two pieces around the ribbon covered pieces and hand stitched them together. I am not the best when it comes to stitching and sewing but it was a lot of fun to make. I did sew the large paper clip to the middle layers before stitching all the way closed.

I added a row of sequins along the bottom of the cloud, each by hand, from the Honey Bee Stamps cloudy day sequins mix.
once finished I clipped these both into the layers of the box card.

Because this can be quite bulky I thought about making a band of sorts to go around the closed box for mailing. I took a piece of 12×12 cardstock and wrapped it around the box to make sure it fit ok and then using a heavy-duty tape I glued the two ends together.

To decorate the band I stamped a sentiment using the Sending Sunshine stamp set, Ray of sunshine stamp, The happiness stamp set and the simple sentiments stamp set. I also cut a cloud using the stitched cloud border dies and The sun is just from a circle die cut.

It was a really fun gift to put together. I am already thinking of more things I can do with the box card idea not to mention more fun felt paper clips!

That is all for today. Thank you so much for stopping by to view my projects. I hope you found them inspiring. Misti and Honey Bee Stamps | A perfect match!

Hi Crafty Friends!

Welcome to the Honey Bee Stamps and Misti Blog hop!

You should have arrived here from the blog of the Amazing, Lydia Fideler!  If you are starting with my blog today, make sure you go back to check out Lydia’s post as she is the first person on the hop!

I was so excited when I found out that we would be working with the kind folks over at My Sweet Petunia. I have had my Misti since they first launched and It is the most used stamping tool in my craft room!

Today I have a fun little project for you. Instead of making a card I decided to make this cute little tissue box that holds those purse/pocket packs of tissue perfectly.  I took inspiration from the Honey Bee Logo and the My Sweet Petunia logo for my colors.

Today I will be featuring the Bless Your Heart stamp from Honey bee stamps ( and don’t tell Melissa…. but if you look closely, you might see a couple of stamps from our April release coming up VERY soon! I had to sneak something in 😉 Shhhhh! )

Making the tissue box is super simple if you have a paper trimmer, scoreboard, and scissors.

Cut a piece of Cardstock to 8 inches by 7 1/2 inches. I used a piece of Strathmore mixed media paper. Both because I planned on doing some watercoloring but also this is super sturdy for a tissue box.

Time to score! Start with the 8″ length at the top.

Then turn your paper 90 degrees and score again.

Once you did your scoring, take a bone folder and burnish / crease all of your score marks. Then grab your scissors for some trimming.

to make the cutting easy, I first cut along the score lines on the sides that had the double score line close to each other. then I trimmed away the pieces you see above.

Before I assemble the box I wanted to do my stamping and coloring. Because I am working on a textured surface, the misti tool is even more helpful. Let me show you….

I could have lined this up at the top of the misti but instead I decided to use my creative corners to give it a little push upwards.

You’ll see above that my first stamping didn’t go so great, which is normal for textured papers. I Just re inked and stamped again.

MUCH better!

Then I die cut a little hexagon for the tissue opening.

I have a handy little tip for you. Instead of taping your paper down to watercolor. Flip over your misti and attach your projects with magnets to the backside. This will hold your project down while you color or paint.

I sketched out some hexagons with a watercolor pencil by Prima.

Then I water colored the top of my tissue box. The watercolor honeycomb reminded me of the Honey Bee logo and website. I didn’t have a pink Petunia but I did have this cute little daisy (which may or may not be a stamp from a brand new stamp set coming soon) So I painted that pink. Of course my little bee is yellow and black. You can’t tell too well but there is a lot of glitter accents from my Wink of Stella glitter brush pen. And I even mixed a little Gold watercolor in my yellow for the honeycomb.

If I tilt it just right you can see just a bit.

After I was done watercoloring I cut two side pieces to 2 1/4″ x 1′ from yellow polka dot paper and two longer side pieces to 4 1/4″ x 1″. I inked the edges of the yellow paper with some Black ink and for the black & white paper I inked it a bit with some Fossilized amber distress oxide ink and then some black distress ink over that.

I adhered those down with some Scor tape and then glued the small long flap and one of the sides together. The other side of the box i left without adhesive so this box could be refilled.

How cute would this be to hand to someone who has some bad spring allergies or a seasonal cold. I think it would make just about anyone smile. I mean look at that cute bee!

I have one more fun “tip” to share with you all. I love my creative corners but I really wasn’t sure how to store them. I wanted to be able to keep them with my Misti and my mini misti and not have the pieces all over the place.

I had this stampin up box and it was just the perfect size. I took a cd sleeve and made a pocket for the inside to hold my mini misti grid paper, my grid transparency and a scrap piece of plastic I use to stamp on sometimes. On the other side my Creative corner pieces fit perfectly!

I cut my packaging to fit on the inside of the stampin up case.

If you don’t have a case like this you could do the same thing with a 5×7 photo case.

Here is a few photos of the final project. What do you think?

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Greetings from Seattle! Creative Coffee Gift for the Coffee Lover’s Blog Hop

Hello Coffee (and Papercraft) Lovers!

I am excited to be participating in the Coffee Lovers Blog hop for the first time! Today I am creating a project on behalf of KatScrappiness.com. I was inspired by the Seattle stamp set that was designed by Kelly Purkey for Hero arts as well as a Seattle Starbucks gift card.

I have always been a coffee addict but when I moved to the Seattle area about a year and a half ago I REALLY came to love coffee any time of the day! I thought it would be fun to create a coffee gift card holder but I didn’t want to JUST give a gift card, So I created another little special gift using my Seattle stamp set.

This cute little matchbox was created using the WRMK envelope punch board. I used some Doodlebug printed papers from the Gingham collection and the cream and sugar collection.  I followed the tutorial for the matchbox HERE and then I added a card on top. Sort of an all-in-one gift!

For the inside of the card, I attached the coffee gift card using a glue dot. I cut a white panel for my message using the second smallest rectangle die in the Kat Scrappiness double stitched rectangle dies. I stamped a sentiment and coffee cup icon in a light grey (Hippo) ink from the Lawn Fawn mini ink pad set, Tropical Island. The stamp set I used here is an older set from Kelly Purkey.

I took the same size stitched rectangle die and die cut a piece of watercolor paper. I stamped a little Seattle scene using that Seattle stamp set pictured above. I then added some watercolor using my zig clean color real brush markers and a waterbrush. After it was dry I went over all of the water and space needle with a clear Spectrum Noir glitter brush marker.

For the inside of the matchbox I added some green sequins, real Starbucks coffee beans, some iridescent cellophane wrap, and a cute pair of coffee cup earrings I made using beads, stamps, and shrink plastic! I haven’t played with shrink plastic since I was a kid and I have to tell you, this was so fun and I am sure I will be making more stamped jewelry in the future!

The stamp set that I used today can be found at KatScrappiness.com. In honor of the Coffee Lovers Blog hop, Kat Scrappiness is giving you 15% off your purchase!!! Use code *SPRINGCOFFEE* at checkout. She even has a special section of the store dedicated to awesome coffee and tea papercrafting items!

How about a little blog candy? Simply subscribe to my blog, and follow me on Instagram HERE. Once you have done that please comment below and let me know your following as well as your favorite Coffee or Tea (I am also a Davids Tea fan!). One lucky winner will get a Starbucks gift card (a Seattle Exclusive card) two versafine ink cubes in Onyx black and Olympia Green, two bags of sequins in a sparkly Starbucks Green shade and a semi-transparent white, some sticky back gems, a new clear sparkle brush marker, and an awesome big Thanks stamp with a matching die set! Special Delivery | Gift Box Decoration

Hey Crafty Friends,

Lately it has been Birthday season for my daughter’s friends. At this age they are difficult to buy for so we have been going for the tween gift that always seems to win, a gift card to Claire’s.

Giving a gift card to someone older is no biggie, a cute card and voila, instant happiness! For a tween though it just needs a little more something something, Ya know what I mean?

You may have seen this photo I posted on Instagram over the weekend.

Dressing up your gift packaging | Taniesa Vlasak for Honey Bee Stamps

for the project above I used the new Hooray die set and Surprise Box stamp set and dies. I also used some silver glitter Nuvo drops and pink bakers twine.

We had some leftover gift boxes from Valentine’s day that we purchased at Michael’s (they have several colors in the gift wrapping section) so instead of making a handmade card, I decided to do a (semi) handmade gift box, similar to the one I created above.

In addition to the pink gift box I also grabbed some basket filler shred, and the gift card. (later on we decided to add some candy)

I grabbed some of my favorite Honey Bee Stamps and dies. Today I will be using Little Pickup stamp set and dies, Surprise box stamp set and dies, Welcome Baby stamp set.

First I chose a selection of patterned papers from Doodlebug. I used this 6×6 paper pad, and I pulled out a selection of colors that I thought would go well together. I die cut several of the traditional shape balloon from the Surprise box die set and then stamped all of the balloons using a shade of ink that matched the pattern paper used.

After the die cutting and stamping was all finished. I took some finger daubers and added a little of the same ink I stamped with to the edges of the balloon. It’s a simple step but it adds some dimension to your die cuts and a bit of pop to the overall design. I also took a white water-based sharpie marker and added a little shine mark to the balloons.

I stamped and cut out the truck and gifts from the Little Pickup stamp and die set and colored them in with my copic markers. I also added a little clear glaze gel pen to the windshield and window.

I arranged all of the balloons on the box, popping some of them on foam tape and a couple I added two layers of foam tape to get a varying amount of heights to the balloons. Using a black glaze gel pen I added the balloon strings. Then I added the truck with the gifts in the back to the box, also with foam tape.

There is a great sentiment set that coordinates with the little pickup stamp set called Sending You sentiments. I love that set but the words “sending you” were smaller and didn’t seem to fit well for my box. I grabbed the brand new Welcome Baby stamp set because it also includes the words “special delivery” in a great font. I curved the words slightly and I stamped those out with black versamark ink. I sprinkled on some clear embossing powder with glitter and heat set. I cut around both words and glued those to the handle of my box.

I think this will be fun for my daughter to gift to her best friend (we are also going to tie a few balloons to the handle before gifting) and I hope that the recipient loves it as much as I loved making it for her.

A winter card with Kat Scrappiness and Hero Arts!

Hi Friends!

Happy Thursday! Today I have a fun card that can be used for Christmas or any occasion. When I saw this Birch Background die at Kat Scrappiness.com I knew I wanted to create a card with this die taking center stage.

To pair with this fantastic Die I chose the beautiful Hero Arts color layering Deer stamp set. I love that you can layer different ink colors quickly and not have to worry where your shading will go.

Dear Friend Winter card for KatScrappiness.com | Taniesa Vlasak www.thecraftypickle.com

I knew that I wanted the trees to have some dimension to them so I took a piece of adhesive backed foam and a piece of adhesive backed cardstock and I stuck the cardstock on top of the foam. You could always use a product like stick-it to glue the cardstock to the foam, these were just in my supply stash. I find that it is easier to glue foam to a intricate die cut prior to cutting if at all possible. I cut the cardstock covered foam with the Birch Tree Background die in my big shot a couple of times to ensure everything cut though. This will smoosh your foam down a bit but it will puff back up.

Dear Friend Winter card for KatScrappiness.com | Taniesa Vlasak www.thecraftypickle.com

I carefully removed the waste from the die cut leaving just the background. I removed the adhesive backing on the foam and placed this on a piece of heavy weight cardstock that I have blended a bit of Broken China Distress ink on. I kept the ink darker at the top and lighter at the bottom.  After that was glued together, I took  W-01 and a W-03 Copic markers and added some shading to the trees. This added a bit more dimension and texture.

I stamped my deer using three shades of hero arts ink that I had on hand (Soft Sand, Latte, and Brown Bark) and then stamped the final detail stamps in Versafine Onyx black ink. I cut the deer out with the coordinating die set then popped the deer up with the leftover scraps of foam from my trees.

Dear Friend Winter card for KatScrappiness.com | Taniesa Vlasak www.thecraftypickle.com

I took some of my favorite sparkling snow sequins from Kat’s shop and glued them down on the blue panel with some Ranger Multi Medium Matte finish adhesive so that they looked like snow falling. To finish off the card I added a sentiment banner from the same Hero Arts stamp set.

I love the multiple layers on this card and it really came together quickly. I could see so many possibilities with this background die. It’s great for all seasons!

Create your own Handmade Postcards!

Hi there friends!

I know lots of you out there love to make handmade cards. One thing I don’t see too often is handmade postcards. They are super easy to send, and very inexpensive. I had the idea during TheDailyMarker.com’s 30 day coloring challenge to take my daily coloring and put it on a postcard and just send it to make someone smile. Not all my projects made it on a postcard but I did do a few and I really loved the result. Postcards can be something simple as a Hello friend! or a notification to your friends and family that you have moved.

There are some great products for making your own postcards. First product that I LOVE is the Strathmore watercolor postcards. These are preprinted 140 lb cards on watercolor paper making it so easy to color and send your postcard. I got mine at my local craft store with a coupon making them very inexpensive.

Here is a fun stamp from Amy Tangerine. This comes from her Better Together collection.

A side note about the stamp above. This stamp is Acrylic and not Photopolymer. I recommend using a stamp positioner tool or a misti to make sure you get a good impression.

There are also other great stamps out there that you can use to build your own postcard backing.

First up is a simple hello friend postcard made with Mama Elephant brushstroke florals stamps and Sunday Sentiments stamps. I stamped these florals in various shades of distress ink and softened edges with a waterbrush. I also splattered some black ink afterwards. Sentiment was stamped in Simon Says Stamp intense black ink and then I ran the card though a dotted die. This card is a standard A2 card size and not the traditional 4×6 postcard. Postcards can be a range of sizes and does not have to stick to the 4×6 but double-check if you make it larger, that you do not need extra postage.

Next we have another Hello postcard, this time with Honey Bee Stamps “Say What” stamp set as well as their “brush stroke alphabet” stamps. I did some spotlight coloring on this one with copic markers. Using grays for the outside and colors for the center circle. After I was done coloring I adhered my postcard back with multi medium matte. If you want the postcard to look seamless make sure to take some ink around the edges.

Here we have a thank you postcard that I made for my daughter’s Aunt. Small Talk Stamp set by Mama Elephant with alphabet stamps from Illustrated Faith and Studio Calico. Mostly distress ink blending on this one and zig clean color real brush markers to color in “Aunt”. I also went over the letters with a Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen once dry.

Create your own postcards | TheCraftyPickle.com

This is a soft thank you postcard using the Not too shabby and kindness stamp sets from Honey Bee Stamps as well as the Kindness die.  I die cut the white panel from Bristol cardstock and sandwiched a piece of Simon Says Stamp Audrey Blue cardstock between that panel and the postcard side. I used my Clarity Stencil Brush to apply Peacock Feathers Distress ink around the postcard. After stamping with Simon Says Stamp intense black ink, I colored the images with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.

Finally we have a postcard I made for my friends and family announcing our move which is happening this September. This was made with two fabulous stamp sets, “I heart books” and “Moving Sentiments” by Three Room Studio. They were colored using Zig Clean Color real brush markers on Canson bristol cardstock. I printed off custom postcard backs that I created in Photoshop.

Another great idea is to take your premade postcards and stamp outlined sentiments like this “Thank you”. This is a great idea for kids to personalize a thank you note to family and friends when needed.

The 30 day coloring challenge (5th edition!)

Hi Friends!

As a lot of you probably know this past 30 days has been The Daily Marker’s 30 day coloring challenge. It was the 5th 30 day coloring challenge that has been hosted by its creator, Kathy, artist and owner of TheDailyMarker.com. The point of this challenge is to get everyone coloring, even if it’s just 5 minutes a day. Coloring can help reduce stress and just exercise your creativity.

Now I have attempted this almost every time and sadly haven’t been able to follow through on the entire 30 days, which is completely okay… Some coloring is better than none right? This time though I was able to manage something nearly every single day of the 30 days and I wanted to pull some of my coloring together in one big post to share. Some projects spanned over a couple of days and some I did in one sitting. I had a lot of fun and even my 10-year-old daughter did some coloring with me too!

Taniesa Vlasak | TheCraftyPickle.com

I challenged myself to use several different coloring mediums. I really enjoy them all so it is hard to pick a favorite. Here is a peek at my some of my coloring and projects.

It’s a Star Spangled Week!

Well, Hello there crafty friends!

Hope you all have had a fantastic week. This week I have been playing along with the Red White and Blue week challenge at Honey Bee Stamps. Although I have shared my projects on Instagram, I thought I would round ’em all up for you in one big blog post. I also show a bit on how I achieved some of the looks.

First up was one layer Patriotic Bee Free card.

Red White and Blue Challenge week | Card by Taniesa www.thecraftypickle.com

For this card I used the Sweet As Honey stamp set. I stamped the honeycomb trio in a miscellaneous pattern and used copics in blues, reds, and gray shades. The cute little bee was from the same set and I stamped the sentiment from the Hand Lettered Alphabet. Instead of doing a gray shadow on the letter I used my Sakura Clear Stardust Gel Pen  as well as outlined the letters with light Copic blue markers .

Next is a very simple watercolor one layer card.

Red White and Blue Challenge week | Card by Taniesa www.thecraftypickle.com

For this card I took a piece of Distress watercolor paper and layered up some red and blue watercolor. I used the  Daniel Smith Watercolor Essential Set watercolor’s but any kind of watercolors will do just fine. I did 4 different layers letting them air dry fully in between painting each layer. I then stamped the little stars and hearts from the Just Sayin’ stamp set. They didn’t quite show up as bright as I would have liked so after the Hero Arts Unicorn white pigment ink was dry I went over the stars with a Sakura Clear Stardust Gel Pen  and went over the hearts with a Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen. I stamped the BLESSED sentiment from the Bless your heart stamp set. Once dry, I die cut the panel with Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle die (Large) and layered with some blue Glitter paper. I placed both on a red card base.

For my next card I decided to do a little rustic americana look.

Red White and Blue Challenge week | Card by Taniesa www.thecraftypickle.com

This card took a bit more time because I did a lot of masking. Here is a few photos of the process…

First I measured out the stripes evenly and then blocked off the blue stars section. I used full adhesive post-its and post-it tape to help me mask off around each of the stripes as I stamped. I used  Red Royal Hero Arts shadow ink for the red stamping and for the white stripes I used Wet Cement Hero Arts shadow ink. The HAPPY stamp is from the Happy Everything stamp set. For the red ink blending I used the Candied Apple distress ink.

Red White and Blue Challenge week | Card by Taniesa www.thecraftypickle.com

Below is a photo of the stripes when I lifted off the masking papers.

Red White and Blue Challenge week | Card by Taniesa www.thecraftypickle.com

Below is the finished flag before distressing. For the blue section I applied Blueprint sketch distress ink and then stamped the “4th” with Hero Arts Indigo Bold ink . The 4 is from the brush grunge alpha set and the “th” is from the Hand lettered numeric set. I added stars from various Honey Bee stamp sets stamped in Hero Arts Unicorn white pigment ink. Some of the stars I went over with my Sakura Gelly Roll white gel pen.

Red White and Blue Challenge week | Card by Taniesa www.thecraftypickle.com

Time for distressing! First I crumpled up the flag and flattened it, then crumpled smashed and smooshed it again. After I flattened it out again it was ready for some staining. Sometimes it pays to hang on to your older crafty things. I had some Walnut ink from years ago that I mixed with some water. I added a few sprays on a piece of acetate  along with some Faber-Castel Gel Medium  to give me a glaze that I could paint on top of the flag.

Red White and Blue Challenge week | Card by Taniesa www.thecraftypickle.com

Once it was fully dry (I left it for about an hour or two while I did other things) I ran it though my American Crafts Heidi Swapp MINC  machine. I used a heat setting of 5. It came out super flat the first time though.

Finally I wrapped around some May Arts Natural twine  and then attached a bow in the center with a glue dot. I adhered the piece to a cream card base. For a finishing touch I stamped some stars from the Country Wreath stamp set on the flap of a kraft envelope. I love adding a matching envelope whenever I can.

Red White and Blue Challenge week | Card by Taniesa www.thecraftypickle.com

That brings me to today’s card and my final card for this week’s Red White and Blue Challenge. This one I think was my favorite out of all of the cards I completed this week.

Red White and Blue Challenge week | Card by Taniesa www.thecraftypickle.com I love a simple one layered card that looks like it has a lot of dimension to it. This card was a lot of fun to create.

First I cut a heart out of a piece of acetate  with a metal die (heart). and then attached it to a piece of hot press watercolor paper. The brand I like to use for ink blending like this is by Fluid. It’s reasonably priced, very smooth, and takes ink blending really well (the pad I used is linked in the supply section at the bottom of this post).

Red White and Blue Challenge week | Card by Taniesa www.thecraftypickle.com

Below are the red and blue inks that I used for this project Blueprint sketch distress inkand Candied Apple distress ink . I applied using little Makeup Blender Sponges. These allowed a smoother application of these colors with the stencil for me. The stamping was done in Hero Arts Indigo Bold ink and  Red Royal Hero Arts shadow ink.

I used the Paint swash from the Brush grunge Alpha set. It is normally at a curve but I straightened it on my Misti Stamp Tool for the stripes (the very bottom little brush stroke stamp is from Color My World stamp set)

After I stamped the stripes I shaded the outside edge with the Candied Apple distress ink. I went over it with a dry Makeup Blender Sponge after applying to soften the line further and remove excess ink.

I did the same process for the blue section. Masking off the red area I shaded using the Blueprint sketch distress ink.

Then for the “stars” I stamped the paint splotch from the Color My World stamp set.

After all the heart was complete. I placed the die cut heart that I saved from die cutting the stencil over the heart and shaded the outside edges with Hickory Smoke distress ink. I let this dry fully on its own for about a half hour. I then applied powder from my EK success powder embossing tool. I stamped the word Blessed from the Bless your heart stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink  and then covered the title with some clear sparkle embossing powder and heat set.

I mounted the base on some thin fun foam and then placed that on a royal blue card base with just enough blue to peek out on the sides of the card. I finished everything off by adding some clear iridescent sequins.

You Color My World

Hi Sweet Friends!!!

I am excited to share with you my first official design team project for Honey Bee Stamps. I have had the pleasure of doing some guest work for HBS in the past, but I am so excited to be apart of what is an extremely talented team!

Today I will be working with the Color My World stamp set. It’s an adorable 4×4 stamp set that just reminds me of the current coloring book craze.

Colormyworld by HoneyBeeStamps.com

What spoke to me when I saw this stamp set is a card I knew I wanted to make for my daughter. Every birthday and christmas, for as long as I can remember, I have given her a coloring book. Far before the amazing coloring books that are available currently.  I would search and search for the perfect one ( in the past I would buy her a lot of coloring books from Dover) With her birthday coming up I knew this would be the perfect card to go with the new coloring book that I got for her.

I decided to go with a non traditional card size. I picked up these cute envelopes from my LSS that are 3 1/2 x 6 1/2. My card panel measures 3×6 and my card is 3 1/4 x 6 1/4 unfolded. The card base is Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock and the panel is Strathmore Bristol 300 series. This size envelope is perfect for making cards from a 6×6 paper pad!

First I stamped all of the images using Tsukineko VersaFine Onyx Black ink. I love this ink because it gives a crisp bold black line and it is waterproof. I did a little masking but not too much. I first stamped the sentiment and then the florals and leaves. I tried to stamp using a visual triangle to balance the card.  After I had everything stamped, I measured out a 1/4 inch border around the entire card.

I sketched the border lightly in pencil so that I could erase easily. Sometimes I am just not careful enough. While I was doing all the inking, I got some smudges and inky fingerprints on my card (sad face).

Now when something like this happened before I would more than likely start all over, but I found an amazing eraser that cannot live without now!

The Tombow MONO Sand Eraser is a magic wand!! You just lightly rub the mistake/smudge with the eraser, and if you rub off some of your inked up image you just go over it with a waterproof pen/marker. I used my trusty Sakura Pigma Micron pen (I used the .05 here but you can match up your stamp line width to the different size micron pens available).

I thought I would break out my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers for this project. They haven’t been getting enough love lately and I love using them on the bristol cardstock. I used a light, medium, and dark shade of all the rainbow colors (Some color groups had 4 shades because I couldn’t decide) but any color combo would look lovely. The technique I used for this card is called “spotlight coloring”. The 1/4 border that I made around the edge will be colored with shades of gray and the inside will be the vibrant color. This really pops the color in the center of the card and emphasizes the sentiment of “Coloring my world”.

With the border, I colored and shaded the images with all gray markers. I shaded these just like I would with the different shades of colored markers. Even if you don’t have a wide range of the brush markers I would recommend picking up at least one Gray Clean Color Real Brush marker as it is perfect for adding a shadow to stamped images and text. Now on to the fun part!

I colored in all of the florals and leaves with the markers and chose a very light shade of blue for the inner rectangle background. I left the border background white. It was at this point that I felt that my sentiment didn’t pop out enough. I decided to take a darker shade of blue and color around the sentiment area making that more of a focal point.

I also added some glitter using my Spectrum Noir Sparkle Glitter Brush Pen in clear. It is hard to see in the photo but it really made the word COLOR super sparkly! I added some faux stitched outline on my card base and popped up my panel with some fun foam so it is slightly raised. I used the full panel of fun foam as it will be going through the mail and I didn’t want it to get smooshed.

I think it’s the little details that really make a handmade card something really special. I took the smallest floral stamp in the set, and stamped the lower right and the upper left corners with a cluster of just the flower, then I outlined them with a grey marker to give a shadowed effect.  I was on a roll and couldn’t stop there so why not dress up the back of the card and the envelope too!

Taniesa Vlasak for HoneyBeeStamps.com

The same idea as the inside of the card. I took  the medium size floral and stamped the corners of the envelope and outlined in gray. I decided to leave these just black and white because I wanted the card to be the center stage of color. I will position the postage just to the left of the floral cluster and I think it will add a great touch when it is all addressed and ready to go.

The handmade stamp was a custom stamp (Coming to The Crafty Pickle Etsy shop SOON) and I added the small daisy and leaf stamp from the set to tie it into the card design. This one I did color. I felt it added the perfect final touch.

Here is a look at my final card.

I hope you enjoyed my first Honey Bee Stamps DT Project, and even more I hope my daughter loves this card! I can’t wait to give it to her (Lexi if you read this blog post just act surprised LOL)

Snowy Pocket page with flair

Hi Carrie here.  Today I am sharing with you a pocket page that I created for my dear friend’s Birthday.

With the last name of Snow and a December birthday I thought this page would be perfect for her.

I used the Doodlebug designs Frosty Friends collection for this project.

Of course I had to add some CraftyPickle flair  and Pickle relish sequins when embellishing some of the cards.

The Winter set is perfect for this snowy page.

I pray that you and your family have a happy and warm winter.

Happy Scrappin’

Carrie
