Remembering Dad

Remembering Dad

This Father’s Day will be particularly hard for me and my family this year. We lost our Dad in February to a traumatic accident.
My Dad was an awesome guy and the life of the party. We know that he wouldn’t want us to be sad on this day, so I decided
we would celebrate him on Father’s Day. Taniesa created some special flair for me so that I could use them to create cards for my
PL album. I have to say when I first saw them , I cried and I couldn’t believe how perfect and how special these were.

First I wanted to create a card using this My Favorite Memory of my Dad flair so I could document that memory of my Dad.

favorite

His grandchildren called him Superman, they seen him as a strong man who could get through anything, so I wanted to create
a card to honor our ” Superman” using a custom flair of a photo of my Dad.

super

Lastly I wanted to share a lovely gift that Taniesa sent to me for my family and me to wear on Father’s Day, how special is this ribbon and its something we could wear every Father’s Day!!

I love how special these custom flair are and how they will help us celebrate and remember my Dad on this Father’s Day.

Taniesa can create custom flair for you no matter the subject, just send her a message in The Crafty Pickle shop and let
her know what you are looking for.

Handmade Greetings with Carrie Bryant

Hi Crafty Friends!!!

Today our designer, Carrie Bryant, has some beautiful cards she has created with just one Close To My Heart stamp set. Take a look!!!

Hello! Today I am sharing with you a few Handmade Greeting Cards that I created using my new “Your Own Kind of Wonderful” CTMH Acrylix stamp set
As you can see there are six different sayings along with six different sized butterflies.  Making this a great value with twelve different stamps in one set.
I love this set for it’s versatility in creating cards for several different occasions.  I like to make up several cards at one time so I always have a handmade card on hand for any special occasion. After all who want to pay $5.00 or more for a store bought card? Any everyone loves a handmade card better anyway.
I used some pre-made chalkboard style cards for my base, I then pulled out my watercolors and painted the background for my stamped image.  I really like the bold outline of the butterflies and when I painted the inside with my watercolors they really pop off my cards. CTMH Arcylix stamps are some of the highest quality stamps I have worked with.  They stamp a clean image every time. They peel off the backing and are super adhesive to the stamping block, they also clean up really easy.
I used the same butterflies on this card. After I painted them in I fussy cut them out and used some 3D pop dots to mount them to my card base.  I then created a watercolor banner that I stamped my sentiment on.  I used some sequins to embellish my cards too.  You can find this pretty Fruity Pebbles sequin mix in TheCraftyPickle Etsy shop.
This one is my favorite. I just love this sentiment. I plan on giving this one to my daughter for her Graduation this year.

Thanks for stopping by today.
Happy Scrappin’

December Daily update with Treasa!

Hi Crafty Friends!
Treasa has been working on her December Daily and it is ADORABLE! Check out her progress!
Hi there, today I wanted to share a few cards I made for my December  Daily. First up I wanted to share how I was documenting my days of the month in my album.
As soon as I seen these flair in The Crafty Pickle shop I  knew I had to use them in my album. I love the silver glitter and the fun font. These Elegant December flair add the perfect touch to my pages even with some sparkle.

I also made some cards to add in my album using more of the fabulous flair found in The Crafty Pickle. First up is the card I made to document the return of our Elf on the Shelf Elvis Parsley.  The Personalized Elf flairs are perfect and I love how you can get them personalized with your elf’s name.
Up next is a card that was inspired by my album that I am suing for my December Daily. I totally fell in love with the burlap and rustic look of it. So I decided to make a card using burlap and one of the flair badges from the December button flair set.
And lastly, I had to make a card to document my love of Starbucks red cups. These red cup flair buttons was a special request and I think they turned out fabulous.
I have to say that I am loving all the flair buttons that I have received from The Crafty Pickle  and  how I can personalize my album and cards. It makes this album so much more special. Please visit The Crafty Pickle and remember that Taniesa takes special orders, so if you don’t see it in the store, send her a message.
Don’t forget to stop by The Crafty Pickle for me fabulous and creative ideas.

Thankful Cards with designer, Kristin!

Hi Crafty Friends!
Today, TCP Designer, Kristin, has some adorable handmade pocket cards she is sharing perfect for this season. Take a look!

Hi Kristin here with my first blog post for The Crafty Pickle and I thought that this “Thankful Heart” stamps set just screamer for me to make some pocket pages cards for the kids to write what they were “Thankful” for this year!!
On the top left hand corner cards I thought that I would put a 5X7 picture of my family and I would slide it under the “Thankful Heart” stamped sentiment, then on the cards the kids would write over the wood grain embossing folders from Close to my Heart and all the different techniques I tried with the 3 different leafs stamps that were in the Thankful Heart stamp set, and then I added the arrow button flair set on the cards for you to follow your eyes around the layout!!!

And then here are the close-ups:

Product I used:

Life Is Beautiful!

Hi Everyone!

Up on the blog today we have a terrific Project Life layout from Stephanie! Take a look!

Hey y’all! Hope you are having a Wonderful Wednesday.
I have a PL spread to share today featuring flair and sequins from The Crafty Pickle!

I have used the Autumn flair and the Autumn Sequins mix. The flatter back of these flair buttons make them easy to add to my PL pages & they fit in my album without a ton of bulk! Check out the awesome selection in the store.

The two larger journal cards are from WRMK & the smaller “Gratitude” card is from MAMBI. Fall is one of my favorite seasons & I adore these photos from a trip to an apple orchard that our family likes to visit. The flair & sequins helped give the feel of Autumn to my page.
Thanks for visiting today. Keep crafty!!

It’s PSL season!

Hi there, its Treasa here today to share a Project Life card that I made using some of the new Autumn sequin mix in The Crafty Pickle shop and a new flair badge that Taniesa created for wonderful fall season. I must confess that I absolutely love the fall, mostly because of the beautiful trees and the cooler weather but also because its “Pumpkin Season” and I love anything pumpkin and one of my most favorites are Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks. These things are fabulous and its like getting a mouthful of fall.
As soon as I received the Autumnsequin mix and thePSl flair I knew I had to create a Project Life card to document my love of PSL.

Here is a close up of that wonderful PSL flair and some of the sequins from the Autumn mix.

I also used some of the paper from the Close to my Heart Pathfinding line. This collection is so perfect for fall and coordinates so well with the Cozy Fall button flairs in the shop. You can also find the Pathfinding collection in Taniesa’s CTMH shop here.

Here’s one last look at the gorgeous Autumn sequin mix in the shop.

Thank you for stopping by and go check out The Crafty Pickle shop and blog.

Using flair buttons in your Project Life albums.

Hi Everyone!

Today I am showing a few of the new Flair sets in my etsy shop as well as some ideas for using flair in your Project Life albums.

I had a problem in the past with using flair inside my pocket pages because of the bulk and I really didn’t care for putting mine on the outside of the page protector as it seemed to pop off or come loose over time. Now that I am using my own flair that are flatter profile, I am less worried about bulk and have been using them lots more in my album.

Here is a look at the flatter profile from a side angle.

Here are a few ideas using TheCraftyPickle flair!

Sometimes keeping things simple is the best way to go. Although I love adding clusters of little embellishments throughout my album, sometimes keeping a simple design makes a big statement. For this card I used my silhouette to cut out a simple frame. I attached it to a Project Life pre-designed card and then added a flair piece from the everyday set.

This next one I whipped up in minutes. I took a clip art TV and positioned it on my 3×4 card in Photoshop Elements. I added a flair from the afternoon/Evening set in the center of the TV and now it is ready for a small photo or some journaling.

Background stamps are wonderful for making your own Project Life cards. For the sunshine card I stamped the background using a Studio Calico background stamp and added on a little yellow face flair (which are free with any purchase for the month of April!)

This next one uses a basic Becky Higgins grid card and a few scraps of cardstock. I cut out the shapes using some basic paper punches and added a Flair piece from the Crummy day set. To finish it off I splattered a bit of gray and black ink in the bottom corner.

This next card was made using a digital stamp from Tracy Larsen, some cloud washi tape, and a flair from the May Flair set. Right now there are January though June monthly sets in the shop and they all include one real glitter flair piece! July-December coming soon!

Same idea for a monthly marker card. Layered with a paper punch and some chalk stenciling in the background.

This sweet card was made with a silhouette cut, a label punch and a heart flair from the Watercolor Hearts flair set. The elements in this card would be great layered over a photo directly as well.

Using Flair as a “O” substitute is lots of fun. To make this card I just splattered red ink over white cardstock and added some Heidi Swapp Mistable letters to make the word JOY. The Flair piece is from my Everyday set.

I LOVE enamel dots and they are so fun to mix with flair. This one uses a piece from the Family set.

And this one uses a piece from the Disney set.

Using Flair in your Project Life album @TheCraftyPickle.com

My Teenagers are very much into Minecraft lately. These three pieces come from the Minecraft set. Try making a border with three matching flair either in the center of your card or off to the side of a 4×6 card.

Finally, a card to celebrate spring. This one was made by stamping some clouds and die cutting a little tree that made a perfect spot to add the Spring flair piece from the May Flair set.

I hope those examples provided some inspiration of your own to use flair in your albums.

December Daily: Days 1 to 6

Happy Holidays!

I hope all of you are enjoying the season so far and have been keeping up with your December Daily albums or Journals. I wanted to share a little bit of my album today. I have up to day# 5 complete. (warning this post is kind of photo-heavy). For my 2013 December Daily I am using the Merry and Bright Kit from Whimsical Twist. I am also using items I have collected from this year and previous years as well as die cuts from my Silhouette. If you have any questions on products used please let me know.

December Daily 2013 Title page TheCraftyPickle.com

For my title page I did it in three separate page protector layers.  For the First layer I printed a title using Ali Edwards digital brushes on a transparency and placed that in the page protector

DD Title page 1st Layer | TheCraftyPickle.com

For the second layer I took a transparency and two silhouette die cuts (out of the silhouette printable gold foil) and adhered them on the transparency back to back. After sliding that into the page protector I sprinkled sequins on either side and sewed the protector closed.

Title page layer #2 | TheCraftyPickle.com

Title page layer 2 | TheCraftyPickle.com

For the Third and final layer of the Title page(s) I cut a piece of American Crafts POW glitter paper and slid that in the protector, On top of that was another transparency that I printed on the bottom.

The next page I kept really simple.

December Daily calender page. | TheCraftyPickle.com

For the card on the bottom left, I stamped in white ink and then I went over the stamped areas with a white chalk pencil to give it a better chalkboard effect.

Day Two:

For the middle layer  I used a 6×8 page protector  and sewed the bottom portion shut with sequins, glitter, and heat embossed wood veneer stars (Studio Calico Printshop stars) Then I slipped the two photos back to back on the top.

Advent Pocket in December Daily Album | TheCraftyPickle.com

This year I decided to incorporate our advent Calender within our December Daily album. You will see these pockets throughout my album. The little circles are special chalkboard paper. I stamped the number in white prima Chalk ink. (the Advent Kit that I used can be found HERE)

December Daily Advent pocket + Tag | TheCraftyPickle.com

I printed our advent activities on a piece of shimmer cardstock and then sewed them to the tag that I had cut down to fit the bag. I also did some heat embossing on the tags as well.

Day Three & Four:

Day Four:

Day Five:

December Daily Day 5 | TheCraftyPickle.com

I had a lot of fun working on Day 5. Lots of digital stamping on the photos using files from Ali Edwards @ Designer Digitals, Ali Edwards/Technique Tuesday Stamps, and the Pine Wreath Die from Die-Namites Dies.

December Daily Day 5 | TheCraftyPickle.com

For the Tree embellishment I used the Pine Wreath die from Die-Namites dies which you can find HERE. I made 12 cuts of the die and one tree base out of the same card stock. I cut off all of the pine branches from the die cut shapes and made a pile. Then I took some clear liquid adhesive and squeezed a bit out on a scrap piece of card stock. I dipped the bottom part of the pine branch in the glue and started layering from the outside of the tree base inward. After everything was completely dry I added some clear and white gems (Michael’s brand and Studio Calico) To see more photos of this embellishment visit the Die-Namites blog HERE.

Day Six:

For day 6 I kept things super simple. I took cards that were included in the Merry & Bright Kit and embellished the tree card with some sequins and glitter pen accents. Sticker letters are also from the kit. There are a handful of kits still available and you can find them HERE on sale for $35!

That wraps up this round of December Daily Pages. I should be back next week to share another handful of pages.
